1st edition, 1st printing; Dewey’s famous recounting of his battle with the Spanish during the Spanish-American War. The battle later transformed into the Philippine-American War when despite Dewey’s reccommendations, the United States government decided, the Filipinos were incapable of governing themselves, and needed to be subdued.

Condition

3/4 leather, very good; red calf spine and corners with gilt trim, marbled boards, endpapers, and edges. Binding clean and sound; minor rubbing to top corners. First few pages show light foxing, else pages are unmarked.
