This volume is based upon notes made by the author while a resident and traveler in the Far East. Says she: “The difficulties have been numerous on account of the official Spanish policy of which the chief object apparently is the supression of all information concerning their colonial possessions.” One of the few American books written in 1898 before the Treaty of Paris. She advocates an American Protectorate with Philippine Government and dedicates her book to Rizal and Aguinaldo.
